Hello Andi,
Thanks for your help.

Can you get a list from your provider on what exactly differs in their PHP setup from a "normal" PHP setup?
You can read this page, where is
the list of PHP "standard options" delivered by the web host provider we use. We don't know if this way to propose PHP is compliant with DOKUWIKI, nor with "normal" PHP setup. We are sorry, we are not qualified to answer to this. But if somebody could give an answer, that could help, and make DOKUWIKI running on platform of this provider.

In general, I'd recommend switching the provider. I would not trust someone who messes with the PHP environment in this way. If this is a cheap or even free provider - you got what you payed for.
Ok Andi. No problem with that, but just a comment, if the following could give you any highlight: this provider is seemed as a professional web provider, with great backgrounds. As it is a cooperative, the service is cheap, but not for unprofessional reasons. This provider runs not-for-profit goals, and targets to deliver very high level of services (they work with Gandi, which should mean a minimum of serious, don't you think ?). And, we think this provider will be very pleased to help DOKUWIKI running on their platforms, making any required improvements aligned with smart ways to deliver web host provider services.
So, from our point of view, if we could help to find a great solution, as DOKUWIKI as this provider, will learn and win something.
Hope we will find together a way to solve this.
