Subject: Multiple installations of dokuwiki
Hi,

I have a number of installations of dokuwiki in the same hosting space, and to reduce disk usage I use symlinks instead of copying folders. This seems to work fine for /bin and /inc. Obviously /conf and /data are different for each wiki. But doing so with /lib causes the mediamanager to look for files in the original location, despite the /data folder being unique to each installation. Any idea what is causing it? Could this be made to work?

Thanks,

Iago

Hello,

i'm having the same challange. Think it needs separate DOCU_INC paths for each linked instance. Of course /data and /conf must be copied, not linked. Another challange would be the session cookie, that is bin set to "DokuWiki" in init.php. It should containt an individual name (maybe the "title" param of conf/local.php) ?

Search for "wiki farm" at wiki.splitbrain.org.

Also visit the mailing list archives.  There have been several discussions on the mailing list at different times, some with people providing patch sets to convert DW to a multi-wiki single-installation application, the most recent being last Sunday (2008-03-30) with a couple of follow ups since.

Nothing was solved , does anyone has any idea about this ?

I don't know if it'll be possible, but it'll be great a Dokuwiki multi-user like Wordpress Mu: running a thousands of dokuwikis with a single install. I think Dokuwiki is one of the best wiki system and it's my choice, but what's happen if you want to have a system like http://nirewiki.com/? This multy-system is great and offers a solution for an ecosystem of people to create, edit and admin a wiki under a single install... better for maintain, upgrade... ops, it's only a think!

Any feedback?

See http://wiki.splitbrain.org/wiki:farm, optionally you can join the mailing list if you have other/better ideas.
