If it should be just one and the same link for each page, then the easiest way would be to edit the main.php of your template and insert the link somewhere there.

Thanks chi,

I tried
<a href=....><img src=...></a>

but  what displayed was:
"image of a SlashedCircle"

"image of a SlashedCircle" being a red circle with a 45% angle line through it--the international pictorial "don't" sign.... as in when they have a pack of cigarettes with a SlashedCircle over it meaning "no smoking."

After poking around I think I need to be using one of the "tpl_" functions. I'll keep looking. In the meantime, if anyone can tell me what function that is and the syntax I'd appreciate it.

Also is there a way to put a different link according to the namespace?

What happens if you insert the URL of the image you link to directly in the browser?

Yes, $ID holds the current page id you could use to match against.
