Subject: Recommend a Plugin
Hi Folks,

I am considering using DokuWiki in work for publishing of release notes and files but Im unsure which plugin I could use. There isn't a hell of alot needed at this stage now except just the ability to have a page with information on it and a link to a zip etc. I had previously used the Media Manager plugin but it doesn't seem to be working lately and all attempts to contact the author have failed so I dont know if its dead.

From the looking at the plugin list the conterdors are fileList and mediaList, I think both of these would work very well but Im not sure how where the files that I would want to link to are stored.

With fileList it seems I can simply put them all in one directory and simply filter them with a search but I only envision having one file for each release note so it seems to be overkill. Also while fileList does give me some nicer formating options it doesnt seem to be ACL aware. Where  does the plugin store files store does anyone know?

MediaList will also do and as an advantage is is aware of ACL's but lacks the flexability and rendering options of fileList. I know it takes files from a particular name-space but Im not sure how these files can be uploaded to the nameapce - does this have to be done via FTP or is there some way to upload/attach files to a page via the DokuWiki UI?

Any suggestions welcome esp if someone has used this in a similar scenario in the past.

About the ACL awareness, I just added this functionality for the "media" mode of the plugin, will be published as soon as I've finished writing this and have had a chance to do a last sanity check ;)

With the filelist plugin, you have the possibility to list files stored both directly in the filesystem (e.g. uploaded via FTP), or part of the media library of Dokuwiki (and thus uploaded via the mediamanager integrated in Dokuwiki, accessible by the image/media upload button in the toolbar when editing a page). Examples for both storage scenarios can be found in the examples section of the plugin's homepage.

This way would be the before mentioned media manager, part of Dokuwiki.

Hope this helps a bit,
