Subject: install.php won't run
I recently tried to install DokuWiki and I followed all the instructions and all the additional solutions posted in the forum, and I keep on having the same problem.  This is it:

The moment I try to launch install.php I get a dialog box telling me that the file is an application and I am asked if I want to save it or open it. When I click open a browser is launched, but before any information is displayed it closes. I tried saving it and then opening again, but the process is repeated ad infinitum.

I moved the files around as per the instructions I found on the forum, installed php, etc. I even went to the http://www.hemptec.pointclark.net/videodb/install.php listed on the DokuWiki installation page. That too won't work... I think it has something to do with the pho, but I have no idea what it could be. No matter waht I do install.php won't run.

I am completely at a loss, since no matter what I do I get the same result... Hey! At least i am not doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result!

Any suggestions of what I could do?

Thank you!

Your webserver is most probably not correctly configured to interpret php files. Find a good tutorial on how to setup your webserver with php support for your distribution and remember to always completely clear your browser cache (otherwise it can happen that you still get the php file for download even though your webserver works correct already).
Please add [SOLVED] to the initial thread subject if you feel your question has been answered.
