Subject: Fatal error mkdir(.../data/locks/...) ... File exists
English is not my native langage

I use Dokuwiki +-4 years ago without any problem.

But now I have a recurrent error :
Fatal error mkdir(/mnt/115/sdb/3/6/pittt/wiki/data/locks/05a29e0c0fb6bb4e81b2d6de922e3bc2) [<a href='function.mkdir'>function.mkdir</a>]: File exists in /mnt/115/sdb/3/6/pittt/wiki/inc/io.php on line 168

If I delete de content of .../data/locks de wiki run ...  but the error come back later.

What can I do ? I try to delete .../data/attic to but no. The error is there yet.

Thanks for help.
My Wiki is http://wiki.namok.be, I use dokuwiki-2005-09-22.

Cool. for DokuWiki beeing just little more than two years old this is pretty amazing ;-)

Anyway - your error is pretty strange. What did you change on your server?

Ok ... I don't remember when I have installed it but I guess It's a long time ago (in a galaxy far far ... you know).

I don't know because I don't host my wiki, I use http://free.fr.
I just delete the content of locks ans attic for solving the problem. But the problem come back. It seems I'm not alone with this. If I STFW, I find
 - http://dcaillibaud.free.fr/sud-culture/doku.…?id=wiki:do…
 - http://nayco3.free.fr/dokuwiki/doku.php
 - http://boustiflette.free.fr/doku.php
 - and mee http://pittt.free.fr/wiki

But strange ... there are all hosted by free.fr ... do you think this is the raison ?
How can I solve my problem ?

Oh okay. Forget it. I just put up an FAQ entry about it. I had so many strange bug reports from users using free.fr which are all caused by strange configurations on free.fr's side.

Here is my official answer: get a real hoster. DokuWiki is not supported on free.fr - sorry.

Hi everyone, I'm new on this forum.

I've ran into a big problem : I'm in love with dokuwiki mainly for its beauty, efficiency and simplicity, but I couldn't find a best hosting place than free.fr as far as I'm concerned : free (!), php, size of storage and no ads... I was falling into despair when i heard about BeSt's working-around : http://forum.dokuwiki.org/post/1733. So here is my question, sorry to bother if you already answered it 1000 times :
what's your opinion regarding this approach (I mean using file instead of folder to lock/unlock)? is there any chance it could be officially integrated and maintened, maybe not as a replacement but as a config option ? what are the drawbacks of this method ?

thanks in advance

2 things :
  • My patch doesn't only replace "directories" in "files" in data/locks, while it's the most important.
  • No user of free.fr who uses my patch has reported a problem (until now). I personnally use it on my wiki.
  • and a third thing ;-), I am not a developper of DokuWiki (and I don't plan to become one of them)

Thanks for answering (and for the patch) !

I was just wondering if your workaround could have consequences on other dokuwiki's functions, and what about future versions of dokuwiki...
