Hello,
In our group people collaborate on several different projects and thus need to share data continuously. In addition to all the data that is mostly read and seldom edited, we need to maintain long lists of items (including associated data such as descriptions, for instance) that most people will access (read) on a daily basis and sometimes also edit by adding new elements or modifying existing ones.
In the past, we used to share Excel sheets located on shared volumes where each file was a different list. This was not convenient since every time someone would forget to close or to save the file data was either not editable or lost...
Then we moved to DW. We didn't know how to switch from our spreadsheets to something manageable in DW. For some of our lists we now use tables and the plugin dtable to make them easier to edit for colleagues that are not comfortable with large pages of code... This looks good and was welcome by the users.
Now the main issue we face (the reason why we cannot switch completely to DW and still need some "external" xls files), is that as soon as DW tables become quite big, they load very slowly and thus users get pissed and want the excel files back...
What would you recommend for this type of use? I searched most plugins but didn't find anything looking like what we need. We could keep working the way we do or we could also switch to something else that would complement DW for this particular feature...
Suggestions and advice are very welcome...
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Hello everyone :)
As mentioned in this tread, in order to manage our long list of items, I switched from tables to a combination of the "structured data" plugin and the "Bureaucracy" plugin. I did that since loading pages containing large tables took forever (~10 seconds). All of the entries for each of our different lists are now stored in a single sql database if I understood correctly.
Now after tens of working hours that were necessary to manually add all our items in DW (using the Bureaucracy forms that I created) I end up with a quite deceptive result:
One of our list contains mores than 5000 entries and now loading the page takes forever (~10 seconds). Basically I am back to where I was when I had tables containing ~200 entries...
For some reason that I don't quite understand, adding a new entry to this list (using the Bureaucracy form) is also slow (~10 seconds once I hit the "submit" button until I see the confirmation message). However, adding entries to our other lists (which are stored in the same database AFAIU) via their respective Buraucracy forms is quick, as usual...
Any help to make the loading of the list and adding entries faster would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
