please read again the topic and try to answer yourself to the following questions: Did the OP said something about markdown syntax ?
The OP clearly said
md file instead of .txt, but failed to provide any useful information as to why this is required. Are they allergic to the letters
T and
X?? A reasonable assumption is that they either
mean syntax
or extension (and English is not something they are fluent in) - there's a difference and it's not trivial. I
suspect the OP does mean syntax and hopes to import markdown documents into DokuWiki - or export, while that is just a suspicion, it's a fact that the process has many failings(*1).
Until the OP provides some useful information it's pointless and probably counter-productive to suggest major core hacks that
will break DokuWiki on upgrade - and probably many current function and extensions. Don't you think?
*1 I've spent a lot of time working with those Markdown syntax plugins for clients who wanted to dumb DokuWiki down so that they could avoid spending 5 minutes learning DokuWiki syntax and/or import existing Markdown files and/or export DokuWiki files to Markdown. It's a classic XY problem - it is much simpler, faster, and more reliable to either convert markdown files to DokuWiki, or vis versa. A process that takes anyone with
basic scripting abilities very little time. Every-time I've had to work with it the job was to fix the problems that approach caused - not to implement it. I'd rather spend a couple of hours writing conversion scripts (preventing the problem) than many hours fixing the inevitable problems it creates in the long-term (wading through sewage) - but that's just my opinion (based on experience).
tl;dr? I agree with you that it
is possible - but it takes a ton of silk, makes an ugly purse, wastes a lot of time, and makes the choice of DokuWiki redundant as it greatly reduces the feature set and makes long-term support viable only for hobbyists and the unemployed.
