Hi,
I am running DokuWiki On A Stick off a thumbdrive which I move between a laptop and desktop. Running the run.cmd command brought up DokuWiki in the browser and off I went. However, while the Wiki first worked on my laptop, it then began trying to resolve
http://localhost:8800 as
http://www.localhost.com:8800. I figured out how to solve that issue (it was a Firefox-side issue), I cannot resolve localhost:8800 at all. I get the old familiar message:
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Try Again
I tried this with wifi on and wifi off. I tried it with the firewall turned on and turned off. I tried turning my laptop's security on and off and various combinations (except if it meant wifi would be on and one of the others off) to no avail. DokuWiki on a Stick no longer wants to work on my laptop and I'm wondering if any of you good people have any idea why.
Thanks in advance.
[edit] I also completely cancelled my browser's ability to use a proxy at one point too, even though localhost is normally an exception to the proxy-using rule. But even selecting 'No Proxy' changed nothing. DokuWiki is still inaccessible.
[update] So in the end I downloaded a new version of DokuWiki On A Stick and ran it directly from my laptop. It worked fine. So I copied the server/dokuwiki folders from my USB to the laptop. That caused the Wiki to no longer open. When I copied only the DokuWiki folder, then ran run.cmd on the laptop, lo and behold, the wiki and all its contents returned.
So I copied the 'server' folder of a new download to the USB and replaced all the files in the original server. Interestingly, that did not fix the issue... so I replaced run.cmd on the USB with one from the new download. Now the wiki and all its contents are back up and running directly from the USB again.
