Hi Courtney, got your email-- here goes:
Hmm, don't do this, just select "multitemplate" as your template in the configuration manager. Using $conf is the way you had to do it originally in dokuwiki.
But, it's not working. Whenever I change the template on the Admin page of the home page, the template changes for the publiced namespace. And vice versa.
Right; you're to choose "multitemplate" as your default template
always. The "begins with" matching stuff that you're using:
$multitemplate['publiced'] = 'mmKanso';
$multitemplate[''] = 'cwsec';
Is what actually selects the template-- if your page or namespace starts with 'publiced', you'll get the mmKanso template, otherwise your default will be the cwsec template, and that's it.
But remember to make the modifications listed
here to both mmKanso and cwsec or else multitemplate will not work. What these modifications do is take a constant set by the system (a hard coded path) and change them to a variable which multitemplate can easily change at will.
Also, consider installing the plugin linked off of that page-- it may help as well.
Now, to address the final issue...
AND
If one or more of your templates use the configuration manager, you will need to open the configuration manager and configure the template for each different template you have.
In other words, if you use the templates “monobook” and “default”, you will need to:
*Open a page that uses the “monobook” template, click admin, then click configuration settings, and set your preferences for this template.
*Open a page that uses the “default” template, click admin, then click configuration settings, and set your preferences for this template.
A short while ago, support was added into dokuwiki to let templates have custom options that can be configured on the configuration management screen.
For example, the monobook template has several options configurable here, like letting the user set the author's name for citing articles, whether or not to use the built in toolbox section, etc.
Not all templates have this, but the idea is, you only get these additional options when the template is actually active.
So, if you wanted to set the "toolbox" option in monobook, you'd have to load a page that uses the monobook template, then hit the configuration manager, and then hit save.
Just to sum up, yes-- multitemplate causes a little bit of complexity, but this is kind of due to having to "work around" some things. Hopefully this clears it up a little bit for you though.
Let me know if you have any further questions,
