You are correct -
conf/interwiki.conf may be overwritten during an upgrade (whereas
conf/interwiki.local.conf will not).
Why? If you don't ever use a default interwiki shortcut (e.g.
[[wp>$Something]]), what problems does the "
wp" entry in
conf/interwiki.conf create?
You can over-ride default entries by putting the same shortcut into
conf/interwiki.local.conf, but it will inherit the default icon associated with the original
conf/interwiki.conf unless you over-ride that association with an appropriate CSS in
conf/userstyle.css (or elswhere).
i.e. if you create
conf/interwiki.local.conf with an entry:-
wp http://insecure.org/search.html?q={NAME}
[/color]Then, putting
[[wp>office]] into a DokuWiki page will then create a link to
insecure.org preceded by a Wikipedia icon
