I spun up a fresh Ubuntu 16.04 server and performed the following:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php7.0 php7.0 php7.0-xml
sudo a2enmod rewrite
cd /var/www
sudo wget https://download.dokuwiki.org/src/dokuwiki/dokuwiki-stable.tgz
sudo tar xvf dokuwiki-stable.tgz
sudo mv dokuwiki-*/ dokuwiki
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/dokuwiki
sudo nano /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000*.conf
--changed DocumentRoot to /var/www/dokuwiki
sudo nano /etc/apache2/apache2.conf
--set AllowOverride All for /var/www/
sudo service apache2 restart
From there I can access the install.php page. However, when I setup the superuser, I can never login. I have tried Public and Closed for the access type. When I tried closed, I could never see anything, just kept telling me I didn't have permission. When I tried Public, I could get to the start page, then go to Login, and it would go back to the start page, just not logged in.
I tried entering a bad username/password and got an error saying the username or password is wrong. So its validating and accepting my username. It just doesn't seem to be actually starting my session.
I feel like I'm missing something simple. Any pointers?
