Greetings! I apologize for the noob question, but I have a Dokuwiki install that I'm piloting for my organization. I've added a few plugins in addition to the ones that come packaged with the install.
I was just curious, how do these get upgraded? Does Dokuwiki check and refresh them periodically? Or when we do an upgrade of dokuwiki, do we also need to go and manually update those plugins?
I was just curious how this works, I didn't see any info on the pages talking about upgrading Dokuwiki or installation of plugins.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

I am also somewhat of a noob but if you go into your extension manager it will display all of your plugins and for the most part if they have updates there will be a button you can press to automatically update them.
If you've found an update online you might want to delete the plugin and install the updated version.. hope this helps!

Updating plugins is the responsibility of the plugin authors. When a plugin is more than 2 years old and the compatiblity setting is also outdated, a notice appears on the plugin page. It's not always necessary for plugins to be updated each time that Dokuwiki is upgraded. But if one of your plugins misfires after a dw upgrade, then you can notify the author using the url on the plugin page.
