So, this is all really new to me. I'm trying to work on creating a private wiki which will be a database for a very intensive creative project, I've been working on for some time. I've been struggling heavily with getting a wiki up and running for the past week. After a lot of stress I finally thought I'd got a grasp of the basics and managed to install a dokuwiki using xampp. This all seemed to work out pretty well, and I've been successfully building up the wiki since.
However, I also need to share the wiki with my partner on the project and possibly several other people in the future. After a bit of searching I found that it won't be possible the way it's currently set up, as the dokuwiki is being run only on my computer. In other words the url is simply "http://localhost/dokuwiki/
". So after searching through several more threads, it appears that I need a hosted server. So I decided to set one up with A2 Hosting. That all went fine. But now here is my big problem. I want to transfer the dokuwiki that I've already put many hours into, on to the A2 host server.
I'm really at the end of my rope here. I've searched as many threads and articles as I can find and I can't seem to figure this out. The link that frequently came up was this: https://www.dokuwiki.org/faq:servermove
. I understand all the data of my wiki is contained in the dokuwiki folder under C:\xampp\htdocs\dokuwiki. I keep reading that I need to transfer that folder onto the new server and it's as simple as that. But I don't know how or where I'm supposed to access the A2 Host Server. Do I have to build the wiki again from scratch on the Host Server?
I hope that was all clear enough. I'd be really grateful if anyone can help me out here. I'm really stressed and exhausted from all this. This kinda stuff just isn't my forte.
