Luckily I have a local copy I test out any changes on before uploading. After installing either Hogfather or Hogfather-minimum I get a 'site failed to load' error in my browser. I have the site setup as a blog, with treeview and a few other bits of candy. I didn't expect it to work as nice and that some plugins would disrupt the layout or something, but nothing works at all.
Can I also suggest adding a feature that allows an admin to separately check for update announcements from the stable version and the beta version - because that's what a release candidate is, right? It's not a stable version until (a) it's stable and (b) the current version and (c) not called a 'release candidate'.
As it is, I've now disabled the check on my website because it's just an annoyance. I keep it checking on my local copy so I can see when it changes. When you think you've fixed the problems, can you issue another notice so my notice goes up from [51] so I know to try again. Thank you.
My site is at this address, just in case you want to see if there are any obvious plugins I could pull.
