I would like to use a wiki to publish end-user instructions for custom software apps. Periodically, these apps get updated with new features and the end-user documentation must be updated to reflect the changes. This ideally should occur just before the apps are released to production so that users who have the old app version do not get confused with new documentation. However, it is not very practical or even possible to update all the documentation at the same time. I would prefer to update bits and pieces of the documentation while I am updating the apps and later publish the changes all at the same time.
Therefore, I'd like to prepare all my content changes in a holding area of some kind until I am ready to publish them to the user community. I've already thought about keeping two wikis, one for development and the other for production, and copy the wiki files from the development wiki to the production wiki but then I am afraid to lose the automation to notify users who subscribed to pages and want to be notified when content changes.
Does anyone have a method for doing what I describe using Dokuwiki or any other wiki for that matter?
