wesalius How can I disable the new candidate/release messages? They are supposed to go away on their own, but I have for example: New release candidate 2 available: 2020-06-01 "Hogfather". upgrade now! [51.1] (what's this?) which is older than 2 months and still on the top with the newer ones. I couldnt locate the cache.messages.txt file adviced in this thread. Thank you.
michaelsy wesalius They are supposed to go away on their own,... These messages do not disappear by themselves. Temporarily disable the update check message, until a newer release comes out: Read this from the paragraph "Each message has a unique ID..." Permanent deactivation: https://www.dokuwiki.org/config:updatecheck - Michael Sy.
pop Use an account which has no administration privileges, or upgrade your software. Be careful, though, as there are some issues with Hogfather, even though many of the issues are resolved by now.
michaelsy 1david You can just set: $updateVersion = "100000"; in doku.php Sorry, that doesn't make sense and is therefore not recommended. To achieve the same function, the updatecheck setting (see above) is provided. This setting can be done without direct server intervention via the DokuWiki interface and the setting is update-safe. Your "setting method" is not update-safe. Moreover, unnecessary data traffic is not avoided. - Michael Sy.
