I'm using the Dokubook template for what feels like a decade now. With every new wiki I've set up (there were quite a few 😃), I usually spent a bit of time to see if there are templates that are suited better for my use cases, but I always ended up with Dokubook.
Given that it hasn't been maintained for a few years now, I guess that it will eventually break in the future. Right now, it's still working fine, even though turning on "nice URLs" already breaks some background colors on the edit page, so the first signs of decay are already here.
I can see that there have been a few calls for a new maintainer in the past, so asking yet another time probably won't fix the problem. From my point, this leaves me with three options: 1. hoping that it never breaks 2. never updating my wikis again - at least not after the point of a real template break or 3. adapt.
1 & 2 don't seem to be viable options, so when I will eventually have to adapt, I can just as well start the process now, I guess. 😃 Especially given that the number of people reading this and number of the people that also have been using the Dokubook template in the past is probably getting smaller over time.
So, I guess my question is: Has anyone made a transition already that left them satisfied? Maybe there is already a spiritual successor I missed so far?
Given that I'm mostly after the look, another option might be to tinker with template and/or css settings of the standard template, but there is so much small stuff, that it might get quite cumbersome in the end.
Thanks in advance, everyone!
