OpenCPN Documentation was converted from Drupal in Sept 2016 to the OpenCPN User Manual Dokuwiki now we would like to find an easy way to include this documentation in an offline form as part of the software.
One of our development team, Alec Leamas has proposed that we make an OpenCPN Plugin for documentation. His title is "Convert documentation to a Plugin"
I would prefer to think of the plugin as a tool to utilize the standard Dokuwiki format off-line, such that users could have the manual locally and access it through our software via a plugin. This way the offline manual could be updated very simply by accessing the public wiki online.
Are there any suggestions, tools or api's for accomplishing this?
OpenCPN runs on many environments, Windows, MacOS, Linux, Ubuntu, RPI, Android so the solution needs to address the document needs for all these environments.
We have been using a whittled down epub document to provide android documentation through an dedicated Android App. This same epub document, made with Myron's excellent tool, is available for download. We could possibly continue to do that but make a plugin that will use the epub documents, but there would be a much easier process for updates to the documentation, if the dokuwiki format was used IMO.
Any thoughts, suggestions, development outlines would be appreciated!
Dokuwiki has become the center of our online manual. We have about 30 reasonably active editors and a total of about 50 editors, however we are due for a total reorganization of the User Manual, to split it into more manageable parts (Basic, Advanced, External Plugins) to address users needs and space requirements for smaller Android and RPI systems.
We would like to thank all the Dokuwiki developers from Andreas to Myron to each of the Plugin developers who have provided an excellent wiki system.
