desbest Is there a way to do string unquoting for a string that takes up multiple lines?
I'm a little confused, do we even have a problem? The online compiler says that this can be compiled without any problems:
@imagetheme = myimagetheme;
@blockygradientstartcolour = #123456;
@blockygradientendcolour = #789abc;
div {
background:
url('images/@{imagetheme}/listingback-top2.png') repeat-x,
linear-gradient(transparent,rgba(0,0,0,0.03)) 0 0/100% 16px,
linear-gradient(@blockygradientstartcolour,@blockygradientendcolour);
}
It compiles to:
div {
background: url('images/myimagetheme/listingback-top2.png') repeat-x, linear-gradient(transparent,rgba(0,0,0,0.03)) 0 0% 16px, linear-gradient(#123456,#789abc);
}
Or have I missed something?

Edit I:
Or have I missed something?
Yes, I have...
This: 0 0/100% 16px,
compiles to: 0 0% 16px,

Edit II:
That seems to do the trick:
@imagetheme = myimagetheme;
@blockygradientstartcolour = #123456;
@blockygradientendcolour = #789abc;
div {
background:
url('images/@{imagetheme}/listingback-top2.png') repeat-x,
linear-gradient(transparent,rgba(0,0,0,0.03)) ~"0 0/100% 16px",
linear-gradient(@blockygradientstartcolour,@blockygradientendcolour);
}
