Hello all,
New linux admin, long-time winmin. I'd consider my knowledge of web-related things to be intermediate ( not curve grading here ), so I know just enough to get a little confused.
My main Symptom:
can't seem to access the DokuWiki virtual host I've created, no install.php ( or any other indication that the site itself is working ).
Environment and background:
Ubuntu Svr 20.04 virtual machine, 2GB RAM, 100GB disk space
I have installed Apache2 and I can browse the default page successfully.
I have installed php 7.4 and I see that the package appears to have enabled the php7.4 module in apache upon install.
When I am testing I just go right to the box's IP, disregarding dns and hostnames at this point
I copied the extracted contacts of the dokuwiki archive to /var/www/docuwiki
created second virtual host alongside default virtual host ( same port, 80 ) and selected correct document path
But, try as I might it's either not live or I don't know how to browse it properly.
It DOES exist in sites-enabled and sites-available
I have restarted apache after every site edit I've attempted.
I have been trying to access it via:
http://hostipgoesherejustpretendididnttypo/docuwiki/install.php
http://hostipgoesherejustpretendididnttypo/docuwiki/
http://hostipgoesherejustpretendididnttypo/install.php
All these simply yield: url not found
Then I tried changing the port to port 81 and restarting apache.
browser request is actively refused on port 81.
My brain is mushy. Please tell me I've missed something simple and obvious? I was only an intermediate-level IIS admin, so this isn't my primary wheelhouse.
Thank you in advance!
PJ
