Hello everyone,
I'm trying to setup a DokuWiki at work for the first time. Access is only possible from within our domain. I have already configured access to local links in Firefox (prefs.js) to be able to use links to files on shared network drives. This works. However, I'd like to be able to directly access/link to files stored on a specific shared network drive (wthout warning message). For example to use linked images and documents instead of uploading them to the server. The amount of files in the network drive is huge and it's not an option to put everything on the DokuWiki server (neither move nor copy the data). I also want to use some plugins that would require access to those files, e.g. to create a directory listing. Without access such plugins can't update the DokuWiki contents automatically and manual updating would be a lot of work...
Current setup:
1) DokuWiki runs on a separate Windows-based server in the network. Only domain admins have access to this server.
2) Lots of data and documents are on a shared drive I:\ and its subfolders, also Windows-based. All domain users have full access to this location.
Is there a way to circumvent access limitations by creating a symbolic link on the DokuWiki server to "fake" a namespace that actually resides on the network drive I:\? That way DokuWiki would think all those files are residing in a namespace on the server itself, so then I should be able to access everything without the need to setup access to local links? Is that correct? Is this possible and how would I set this up? Please consider that although I'm an experienced Windows I have little knowledge about networks and less about servers. So simple things may not always be self-explanatory to me.
Many thanks in advance for any help.
