andi @drosera in your OP you describe how fragments are cleaned up automatically but then do not match the anchor in the target page. As discussed in this thread, the headline anchors are cleaned up in the same way and thus should match your cleaned up links. So where do the anchors come from that you want to link to? Is there some plugin involved you failed to mention?

The anchor IDs in the target page are created by the WRAP plugin (see my example above):

This generates span's like <span id="2021-01-29"></span>
. These are not the problems. The fragments created by DW in links like [[:name:space:page#2021-09-13]]
are the problem, as they are prefixed with "section" and thus don't link to the span IDs created by the WRAP plugin
