Hi guys -- brand new to DokuWiki, very excited to try out DokuWiki, but I've run into a problem and for the life of me, I can't figure it out on my own. I've searched Google and the DokuWiki site and haven't yet found the solution. Hopefully one of you will have the answers.
I am setting up several local wikis on my office LAN on a single fresh Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server, and I've got the basic server itself up and running fine along with Apache and PHP. No problems on the basic requirements being met.
This server is set up to ONLY be accessible in-house on our LAN at its IP address of 192.168.1.XXX. No external public access to the www and it doesn't need a domain name. The IP alone is fine for us. But maybe that's part of the problem...
My first attempt at testing DokuWiki actually went well, and I set it up at in the root Apache default directory and all was good.
The primary problem is that I actually need this wiki to be located in a subdirectory, like at 192.168.1.XXX/wiki1, and not at the root level.
I have a secondary problem that I can't get multiple independent wikis working, which I want to be accessible at 192.168.1.XXX/wiki2, 192.168.1.XXX/wiki3, etc...
BTW, as for the multiple wikis, I'd prefer completely separate installations at 192.168.1.XXX/wiki2, 192.168.1.XXX/wiki3, etc., BUT I'd be okay with using the farm plugin and doing it with 192.168.1.XXX/!animal2, 192.168.1.XXX/!animal3, etc...
But I couldn't get multiple wikis working OR the whole farm thing working with the farm plugin.
However, let's jump back to the primary problem, which is I can't get DokuWiki working properly in a subdirectory of the root of the site -- at 192.168.1.XXX/wiki1 -- since that's the key and I think it may be related to why I can't get the multiple wikis or farm to work.
So when I install DokuWiki in the /wiki1 folder, I keep getting the warning that "It seems your data directory is not properly secured..."
BUT I have properly secured it as far as I know. I've changed the /etc/apache2/sites-available/000-default.conf file to make sure /var/www/html/site1/wiki1/(bin/|conf/|data/|inc/) is set to AllowOverride and the subdirectories all have the correct .htaccess file and in fact the test permission file -- http://192.168.1.XXX/wiki1/data/pages/wiki/dokuwiki.txt -- is correctly forbidden.
The wiki (wiki1) does seem to work okay, except for that warning issue, which makes no sense to me. And I've double-checked the .htaccess files and they seem fine too.
So I'm totally perplexed why I'm still getting the warning that my data directory is not properly secured. But when I delete everything and start over and install DokuWiki back in the root, it works fine! So something strange happens when it's in a subdirectory.
And then on to my second problem that I can't get multiple wikis working. I feel like if I can conquer problem #1, this second problem should be solved more easily, and I suspect they are related. So maybe someone can help with the first problem, then I can work on the second problem, or the second problem might resolve itself.
Thanks for any help and suggestions!
