My goal is not to generate controversy, I want to choose a company based on technical decision and strategy. I'm thinking about using dokuwiki as a starting point for documenting some initial things. I think dokuwiki will be around 20GB. Access to dokuwiki will only be for 1, 2 or 3 people.
I thought of storing dokuwiki in a local environment with virtualbox with Linux distro: debian, ubuntu or archlinux. The downside is that disk space would have to buy and that memory is heavily used as you add more stuff, content on dokuwiki.
I want to have a scheduled and automatic dokuwiki backup solution. The Linode company from what I have seen provides Linux OS backup as ubuntu something like 'snapshot' or backup scheduling feature.
I thought of hosting dokuwiki as by Linode because of this feature. But there are other website hosting as good as Linode. From my brief knowledge it is not possible to share things via virtualbox, as the computers would have to be on the same network. The project people live far away, it would be interesting instead of local storage in virtualbox to go to a permanent cloud. I'm thinking about installing dokuwiki on a cloud server. I was wondering what is the best hosting server to install dokuwiki or what is the best recommended server/hosting company for dokuwiki. For example, the Wordpress community likes to use BlueHost. Is bluehost good for dokuwiki?
