probably the answer i'm seeking is already out there somewhere, but i'm new to dokuwiki and so just trying to figure out the answer "definitively" -- should you be able to steer me towards a FAQ containing this answer or some other resource via a URL or other means, certainly just do that rather than explaining in detail here, as i don't want to take up any "extra" time from anyone who may be helping here
But anyhow...
i have a debian (stable version, kept up to date) instance on linode, and it seems clear that the preferred way to go is to use the dokuwiki packages instead of the debian packages
after i install using this recommended procedure, how to i "update" whenever you folks release a security update? and is there a point after which the upgrade will potentially get more complicated (when you do more than patch security issues, but migrate to a new major version of your software)?
one of the things i really like about debian is that the maintainers take care of this (mostly) with all of the packages in their distro, usually in a pretty timely fashion
but yeah, that means not being able to use the latest and greatest versions of many specific softwares that are in their distro...
thanks so very much for any direction, guidance, and/or link to further documentation on this,
e
