Just a quick note to say that I've been trying to find a way of reliably logging stats for some months now.
I've tried all methods I can think of, including the DW plugins, and some third-party JS-based trackers etc.
I've eventually realised that it's next to impossible to get even reasonably accurate results.
The main problems are :
1) Plagues of unruly bots which skew the figures. Hundreds of 'em completely ignore the robots.txt files. In my case they're mostly from the US and Europe.
2) The very widepsread use of 'ad-blockers', which completely mess-up any/all JS-based trackers.
3) Ludicrously overcomplicated and flaky third-party bloatware (some of which costs $$ too)
I now strongly suspect that even the most sophisticated large-scale websites only have a very vague idea of their actual visitor numbers. (Though many will no doubt pretend otherwise)
Sorry to be pessimistic, but if anyone knows of a simple low-overhead system which works reasonably well please let me know!
