OK, so there is a lot to unwrap here.
Firstly, there are two different paths that we are talking about: one of them is the "file system path" on your server, which in your case seems to be /volume1/synology/web/alpha/dokuwiki
– and the second is the "path" section of your URL. As your URL seems to be http://alpha/dokuwiki/, the "path" in this case is simply /dokuwiki/
.
To check: the URL to run your "install.php" should be http://alpha/dokuwiki/install.php - is that correct?
You don't actually need to set the basedir configuration setting, but if you do, please set it to the URL path (i.e. /dokuwiki/
), not the file system path. If you did the latter, that would explain a lot of your server's weird behaviour.
Also to be clear, what the install.php
does is not install DokuWiki at the specified path, but configure the already-installed DokuWIki instance before first use. Maybe this is also where some confusion is coming from (before you ask: yes, this is still the correct name for the script, as its purpose is to finalize the installation).
My next question would how you set up your local DNS so that "alpha" and "beta" resolve to the NAS. I see a couple of potential problems creeping up here, but they are probably not the issue at this moment (and out of scope of this forum anyway). Let's just say, I would advise against it.
