DokuWiki Translation at
http://translate.dokuwiki.org/
I have been very impressed with DokuWiki so far, but I note that for translation of the interface into some of the other languages, efforts are sporadic and seem mostly stalled (with just
8 languages complete, so far:
German,
English,
Esperanto,
Finnish,
French,
Italian,
Ukrainian and
Chinese).
To that end, I have gone through my online contacts and hope I have found volunteers for at least Danish (95.08), Dutch (99.45), Hindi (1.09), Russian (99.45)?, Tamil (5.46), and several other languages for you.

Cool. Would be great if everyone who speaks a language besides English could head over to the translation site to help out. Encouraging your friends to do the same would be appreciated as well :-)

I think you'll get a response for at least two of those (Hindi and Tamil) within a few weeks.
One was already sent (Russian) earlier today I think. Someone else also submitted Galician.
I guess that another two (Danish and Dutch) will not be far behind those.
I am also trying to get this organised for Gujerati (0?), and Swahili (0?) at the moment.
I might be able to find a few more people for some of the others in the next few weeks.

Hopefully, you have already received the first few files.
There should be a couple more files within a few days or so.
It will be several weeks before I can speak with some of the other people that I have in mind.
I see that some other people just submitted Spanish and Japanese too.

I understand the conventions over at
http://translate.dokuwiki.org/ are that
bold text is used for all languages where more than 15% of the job is done (and which are therefore included in official builds), and that
normal text is used for all languages where less than 15% of the job is done (and which are therefore omitted from official builds).
There are no special markings for languages that are 100% complete; that is, there is no distinction (in the text) between a language that is 100% complete, and one that is 99% complete. Should the list be split up into two lists, one for complete and one for non-complete? Should the colour scheme of the text and/or the bar be altered to highlight languages which are complete? Maybe change the 'update' link colour to black for languages that are 100% complete?
It would be great if the translate page had the "date of last change" listed for each language, as well as the "percentage complete" information, as maybe I'll try targeting the stuff that has waited the longest first. Additionally, how about being able to sort by "percentage complete", "date of last change", and "language name", as well as by the existing sort by "language code"?

Hopefully, working on getting Icelandic (14.21), Norwegian (99.09), and Welsh (6.38) sorted out in the next few days.
[edit]A few hours later: Norwegian is done already.[/edit]
I see that some other people just submitted Romanian too.
g1smd
Danish (95.08-->98.00) is probably on the way to you already; maybe even part of the Hindi (1.09-->21.13) texts too.
There was a problem sending the Dutch; hopefully you do now have that.
I have some ideas also for [Bulgarian (85.06),] Irish (8.20) and Latin (11.66), but those may take at least a few weeks.
g1smd
Next up, hopefully Lithuanian (43.53) over the next few weeks, or so.
Looks like Icelandic and Welsh are stalled for at least a week or two.

Looking to sort out Catalan soon. Chasing up one possible contact for that, next week.
Might also be able to get Latvian sorted out too.
g1smd
Change of approach! Looking to see some more progress on all of these in the next few days and weeks: Catalan (99.45), Valencian (90.53), Czech (99.45), Greek (86.70), Basque (99.45), Persian (99.45), Hungarian (98.72), Korean (99.45), Latvian (96.72), Polish (99.45), Portuguese-Brazil (98.72), Slovak (98.54), Serbian (94.35), Swedish (99.45). With a bit of luck, maybe they can all be completed.
[edit]A few hours later: Czech, Slovak (98.54-->99.64), Portuguese-Brazil, and Serbian (94.35-->99.82) are done already. I guess that now makes 16 languages complete.[/edit]

A few functionality suggestions for the translation interface:
- Change the 'language code' typeface to bold, and the 'update' link colour to black, for languages that are 100% complete.
- Add the "date of last change" for each language next to the "percentage complete" information. Additionally, how about being able to sort by "percentage complete", "date of last change", and "language name", as well as by the existing sort by "language code"?
- As soon as changes are made to the form and the ZIP file has been downloaded for any single language, change the 'update' link for that language to red, either for the next 48 hours or else add an admin function for you to cancel the red colouring when DARCS is updated with the new file. Add a note to say that the red link colour signifies that there is an update already pending for that language, and that translators should hold off doing any more work on that language until the link goes green (or black) again.

There's an update for Greek (86.70-->99.82) on the way to you.
That wraps up Polish too, now. That one is complete.
There are two updates for Swedish - one each from two different people. Andi, you'll need to compare both.
Promises for Catalan and Valencian have also been received.
In the language list, is Sundanese a typo for Sudanese, or is Sundanese correct?
For "pt-br" language code, change the printed name from "Portuguese" to "Portuguese-Brazil".
Change the language code for "Pirate" to be "en-xx".

Now also Persian and Swedish completed.

Excellent work. I hereby declare you "Master of Translation" :-).
I'll be out of town the next two days so it will be a few days til I can update the translation interface...
g1smd
And now, Korean and Hungarian are also complete.
Waiting to hear back for Basque and Latvian later in the week.
g1smd
Following up a lead for Croatian (31.51) right now.
g1smd
I believe Catalan was also completed.

The translation interface isn't very flexible or even good code. Most of your suggestions can not easily be added, sorry.
g1smd
Ack. I just noticed that for Greek (86.70-->99.82), Slovak (98.54-->99.64), Serbian (94.35-->99.82), there's just one or two strings missing still. I'll get on the case again.
g1smd
Slovak and Serbian have been properly completed and sent, as has Greek.
Polish is sent again as the update doesn't seem to have gone through.
That makes 25 languages complete, and more than a dozen others being worked on.
