Hi Roy
Can I remind you that this will only work on Windows server hosted wikis, and over which you have
full control. It requires installing extra packages (which can be free) on the server, and is not all PHP within the plugin. So
this will not suit A LOT of people.
My question in this forum is to help me tidy up this feature as a 'proper' plugin and not just leave it as a set of hacks. If you are able to have your users follow a procedure at upload time then the problem above can be got round and searching works very well.
I currently deal with PPT, DOC and PDF (XLS (maybe) and the OpenOffice formats will come next.) Screenshot below. Imported media is presented in its own page as a download, along with a PDF version (if appropriate) and thumbnails of the document.
Since I am approaching a deadline on having this configured for the wiki I am setting up, then you won't have to wait long. couple of weeks at most I hope.
I see you list TEXT files as candidates for searching. It is trivial to extend it to text files if you need these to remain as separate media files and not text pasted into a regular wiki page. This is easy to do on any setup and does not need Windows.
I'll keep your details to the side and mail you when I am uploading the plugin.
Can I just add, none of what I am doing is rocket science.
