to set permissions for a group you have to go to the ACL Manager.
On the top there is a box with "Permissions for..." there you choose group in the drop down menu and type the group name in the box. thats all the magic
I didn't find this information in the documentation. Nor on the wiki. If it is there, it should be made more prominent (making it a subheading, perhaps). If it isn't there, it should be.
I figured this out myself, but it was pretty frustrating for awhile. And really, if someone adds a group by adding it to a username, then it should autopopulate on the list. Better would be for there to be the (default) option to select groups for a user from a list, with New Group... being one of the items. This prevents typos, which is good.
Also, user administration is the proper place for groups, so User and Group Manager would be a better name from the Admin page, IMHO.
So:
1) Is group creation documented in the documentation?
2) Is group creation documented in the wiki?
3) Searching for
group in the installed DokuWiki doesn't have any hits, is there already a feature request to add something that gets hits?
4) Is there already a feature request to add better group creation (as described above)?
