omitter hi forum, i work a lot with external images from press portals and use dokuwiki for internal workflows and content preparation. for obvious reasons (deep linking, bandwidth stealing) i do not want to point directly to images on external servers, so i got to download them first and then upload them to my dokuwiki. that's why i am looking for a plugin that enables me to directly import external images into dokuwiki. any hints?
andi omitter wrote for obvious reasons (deep linking, bandwidth stealing) i do not want to point directly to images on external servers Configure fetchsize and DokuWiki will download and cache all external images for you.
omitter hey andi, the problem is that the external server is configured for downloading pictures (mime type i guess?) instead of displaying them inline. so if i embed them in my dokuwiki page, i just get a link, not a picture.
omitter sorry andi, i don't get it. if i put the image into dokuwiki with {{http://myhost/path/to/myimage.jpg}} and it is instantly displayed as a link, not a picture, how can i make sure that the image is cached by dokuwiki?
andi When you set the fetchsize option high enough nothing more should be needed. Maybe the host in question also denies downloading the image from DokuWiki? Can you give the URL to the image in question?
omitter i send it to you by PN as i'm not sure about the legal conditions (NDA). though the image is directly accessible from the outside, the portal itself is password protected.
andi Alright. First the image works fine as soon as you make sure the URL ends in .jpg as described at http://www.dokuwiki.org/images#dynamic_images Second, it will not be cached by DokuWiki because the webserver indeed does not send the correct Mime Type. I had a look at the source code again, we only cache images.. Had forgotten about that.
