xnooby Is there a way to generate a list of links that have been created, but do not yet point to a page? My users will be creating some broken internal links on pages that will be fleshed out later, and I will need a way to find them and list them. Is this possible?
koko hi, Yes, this is possible, but only with a plugin: OrphansWanted Just read the explaination and it will be easy to use ;-)
xnooby I think I have the latest version of dokuwiki, perhaps I need to downgrade before I can use this plugin? I saw this in the "version/requirements" section: "There appear to be some problems with using this plugin with the latest release of DokuWiki (2006-11-06). It doesn’t appear to work correctly, and it breaks the Configuration Manager."
xnooby Perhaps I spoke too soon, lol. I created a link to a page that did not exist, and it eventually showed up as a "wanted" page. I'm not sure why it took a few tries. I created the page, but it still shows up as "wanted". I put the "orphanswanted" code on a "todo page", the goal is have a page of broken links and orphaned pages that people can fix. I deleted the link to the page, and it still shows up as "wanted" rather than "orphan". On the orphanswanted plugin page I saw this note: There appear to be some problems with using this plugin with the latest release of DokuWiki (2006-11-06). It doesn’t appear to work correctly, and it breaks the Configuration Manager. — DGM2 2007-01-05 00:19 Perhaps this is why it's not working? This is the second plugin that doesn't work with the latest version of DW, maybe I should use an older version?
xnooby I switched to the 2006-03-09 version of DW, and was able to get everything working. The orphanswanted plugin works fine. My last problems were being caused by insufficient rights on the Windows 2003 server. Is there an error log somewhere for plugins? I didn't know it was a permissions problem, until I changed them by chance.
og Perhaps there is a plugin for this. Or you write it yourself. You must decide when links are checked, at runtime when page is shown, which means that there will be a short delay. Also this should be cached for some reasonble time (e.g. a day or so) to not checj it anytime the page shows up. This would result in a action plugin. Or, by some kind of periodical job (cron) which max need integration into the OS. This job can crawl the pages for external Urls and check them. All of this depends on your expectations kn how to visualize the results. Only in page by different color or symbol or an list showing all broken links.
erk70 For completion, the plugin xtern "Checks external links for connection errors, with tools for fixing them".
