I have reviewed this FAQ, as well as, discussions on farms (
http://www.dokuwiki.org/tips:farm) but am still a tad confused apologies in advance if this is a stupid question.
The objective is to have the same install of Dokuwiki, running under Apache on different servers and OS. To make it simple we have 2 servers:
Server 1: Ubuntu/Apache
Server 2: Windows XP/Apache
Each is connected to a common disk. Lets assume something like Dropbox (
http://www.dropbox.com/) for now as this makes the common disk look like a native directory on Windows and Linux. On this common disk we load the latest Dokuwiki.
Benefits:
1) Single code base in the lab
2) Single common data files
In Linux it is easy to point to the common disk installation:
1) Create a symbolic link in /var/www to point to the Dokuwiki
2) EG: $ sudo ln -s /<dropbox path>/dokuwiki-2010-11-07/doku /doku
In Windows it is not as simple
1) Not sure how to create a symbolic link that lasts
2) EG: "junction" command (
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896768)
Are there other options? Any help is greatly appreciated.
