turnermm In the allow list, you can add the IP address of the server where your Dokuwiki is hosted. That is you can use its intranet address, for instance: http://192.168.0.10.
taggic Your problem seem to be more a generic IE issue. Does the IE problem occur only with DokuWiki ? Just an idea: Cookie handling is related to system security and not only handled by Internet Explorer. Have you checked your security applications for cookie handling? Virus scanner, Spyware, Malware and Intrusion detection systems deliver a lot of configuration options, seen only in expert mode, like special cookie handling. This may overrule the settings of Internet Explorer (e.g. SpyBot Search and Destroy). Finally it would be better to raise this issue in an IE forum. Please do not forget to leave a short description here once you found a solution.
fumigator Here at work I have installed a DokuWiki-based wiki on our intranet (internal facing) for my team to use to document our system, our problems, our servers, etc. It all works great and I love it-- but I am having the worst time convincing IE8 to store persistent cookies when it comes to remembering someone is logged in. I've tried several things, based on information found searching the 'net as well as some info here in this forum. I can stay logged in forever if I use Firefox. IE8, however, over a 24-hour period, forgets I wanted to remember my credentials and forces me to log in again. I'm basically just appealing to the IE gods here in desperation, hoping someone has an idea that leads to the final solution! I've tried: Adding the website to the "webpage privacy policy" as "accepted". I would add the website to the "allow" list in "Per Site Privacy Actions", but IE8 doesn't let me enter an intranet URL-- it requires a URL with a suffix on it (my wiki's URL is just a single domain name with no suffix since it's internal). In Internet Properties->Advanced Privacy Settings, I've tried checking "Override automatic cookie handling" on, "Accept" first-party cookies, and even "Accept" third-party cookies. I've checked "Always allow session cookies" on. There may be more I've tried, with no luck yet... any help is appreciated!
taggic I'm not a crack of IE configuration or cookie related issues so my comment maybe :-( If I'm remembering right than you can configure that your browser deletes temporary files and cookies afetr shut down. Would not wonder me if that is not done immediately by closing the IE. I dont know if the settings you are describing does prevent cookie deleting.
fumigator You're absolutely right about it being IE8 and this may not be the best place to get an answer. That said, I did get some helpful tips :-D I think my best long-term solution is to persuade my entire team to use Firefox, but that's an uphill battle as our project tracking software, disaster recovery tool, and Dokuwiki's network share links only work in IE. (I've tried to get network share links working through Firefox but don't really have the time to devote to it)
