I am new to dokuwiki. Please tell me how I create new Groups.
What I want to achive is when a user joins the wiki they become a member of the default group "users".
How do I create pages that only some members can view and edit.
I have searched for days & cant figure it out.
Thanks
Tony

Hi,
There are two possibilities.
1) You change the permissions for the pages that other users may edit. Just give the permissions for each individual.
2) You group your users and give the permissions for the pages for these groups. To add groups, just type a new groupname in the usermanager on every user you want to add in this group.

Thanks for your reply but I am really going to need to be lead by the hand on this.
I have page automotive:daewoo:daewoo_kalos_2006 that has general info that I want visible to all groups.
I have a link on this page to page automotive:vehicle_openings:daewoo_kalos_2006 that I want to secure.
I have three users.
User one has Groups "user"
User two has Groups "user, secure"
User three has Groups "user, secure, admin"
I did this by clicking on the icon next to the users name and typing in "secure" in the groups field.
Now I go to the page that I want only users with group "secure" to access.
I select Admin and then select ACLM
Then what?
In the drop box marked groups onlu "user" exists.
Ok Ok I'm stupid just worked it out. I will continue my nonsence in the hope it will help someone else.
I navigated to the page I wish to secure.
I select Admin and then select ACLM
Then I created two rules.
Firstly I left the drop box on "group" as a was setting permissions for an entire group. and typed "user" into the field.
I left all boxes unchecked. This stopped all members of group "user" from access the page.
Secondly I left the drop box on "group" as a was setting permissions for an entire group. and typed "secure" into the field.
I selected all checkboxes with the exception of delete. This now gives permission for all members of group "secure" access to the page.
If this is correct then thanks heaps. If not please explain further.
