Hi
I recently installed
Release 2012-01-25a "Angua" and it nagged me a little later about a new hotfix. So I decided to do it:
It's a disaster. The links at the top tell me nothing (and don't open in new window!), there is no way to pull up an update manager despite looking like it will take you to one, so I think "sod it" and reinstall latest version, thinking I can update the data dir and the acl.
the official link is here, and to be honest it's garbage..
https://www.dokuwiki.org/install:upgrade
FIRST OMISSION : there is no information on where the acl is stored or which data directory to use and where the media files need to come from. none. So I guess my way through it and SECOND OMISSION: it broke everything: now
anyone can get on the dokuwiki the admin login panel /logout button is gone and (to be honest) it's literally wasted about 2 hours of my life so I roll it back to earlier version and switch off the STUPID HOTFIX notification.
All you have to do is have a addons/settings/conf/data dir in one area and literally never touch that dir for upgrades.. and if you do don't do it as a hotfix.. do it as a version increment.. I am really disappointed. I mean this ~ I appreciate that dokuwiki is a open source project but this kind of voodoo at upgrade is sooo very easy to avoid.
