I tested this configuration and the sorting code {{indexmenu_n> [number]}} still disappeared.
I tested this several times and even when I restored the page the code was gone, even in DW Edit mode.
Also it did not show as a colored field at the top of the page when viewing.
I went back to Admin login and was able to add the sorting code back into the page, so I think that parameter does not affect or fix the problem.
While logged in as a part of the Manager group, I happened to go to Admin and noticed that there was a very limited set of options which was very nice security, but I wonder if indexmenu should be listed there?? --Just asking as I don't know much at all about how the security works.
I think it would be very nice if @manager or manager group were allowed to use and edit the sort code, because as it is now, I can not assign manager to anyone, as it will totally screw up everything I've done to this big wiki!!
I have assigned the one or two people working on this wiki to the ADMIN group, but I am hoping to have 8 more guys working on it and I really need to assign them to the Manager group as I don't want them messing up Dokuwiki configuration, but I also don't want to have to re configure and assign all the sorting codes at the top of each page!!!
Thanks very much.
PS: I am using ACL Manager by Andreas Gohr, if that helps.

=======
Later: I discovered that I had not properly "Saved" the Configuration where I unchecked the "only_admins" parameter in Indexmenu Plugin configuration.
Now anyone in the Manager Group can edit pages with the index sort code at the top {{indexmenu_n> [order number]}} and it works!! Sorry about that.
