Subject: Actually a problem with using the dokuwiki.org website
Hi - Actually this isn't a problem with forum, it's a problem with the dokuwiki.org website.  I posted here because posting in "Chit Chat" sounded too casual.

When I search on dokuwiki.org website (http://www.dokuwiki.org/wiki:dokuwiki) (not our company’s dokuwiki site), I did the following:

1. type into the search bar, like on the term “php” (no quotes),
2. and hit Search.

I get a few results (like the pages which have php in the name, and the first topic which has php in the contents, and then I get the following error.

Internet explorer cannot open the internet site http://www.dokuwiki.org/?do=search&id=php.

    Operation aborted

Then, when I click on the OK buton, I get a “The page cannot be displayed”.

    I would have searched your website to see if anyone else reported it, but then I’m back to the original problem! ;-) I did search your forum.

I am able to click on links on the homepage http://www.dokuwiki.org/wiki:dokuwiki, and see the resulting page.

I asked a co-worker to try the same thing and they immediately had the same problem.  I had this problem a few days ago too.  Do you think the maybe the problem is on our company's side?

Please feel free to e-mail me through the website if you want me to try any experiments for you.

Sincerely,
- Dan

This isn't just you, I've been having the same problem lately and also just reported it earlier this evening. I've been switching to Firefox when I need to search the site.

Okay I found a way to reproduce this though both of your search queries do work fine for me... I think there might be a problem with mod_gzip but access and error logs are looking fine.

What I really can't understand is that IE loads res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm which should indicate an DNS error.

Ideas welcome.

The problem was caused by some JavaScript which accessed the DOM before it was fully parsed. It was fixed recently.
