Subject: Problem using Translation plugin
Hi Folks,

i use this plugin https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:translation for my bilingual Wiki (EN/DE) and have some major problems with it:

1.) If i use absolute links for pages and forgett to change the links when translation the page into another language, the link points to the wrong language page. It would be better to eliminate the need to carry the language information in the document path. Instead use an URL parameter or even session parameter to choose the language to show. To make the translations move and transform with the pages/namespaces from where they are created, they should be stored parallel to the source page. Maybe in an normally unaccessible subfolder (".de", or ".en") so only the system can load it and don't show up in index-plugins.

2.) Decouple the need to translate everything at once. If i translate one page, and this page refers to others inside the same namespace, or given as relative path, it shows a dead link. It would be even better to show the untranslated version of that page. This way, one can go page by page to translate, and does not need to translate everything at once.

3.) if i change a page in the "default" language and there is an translation already available, it does not remind me to change this either. I always need to change the current language to look if there is an translation for the page. In the oppisite way it shows if me if the page in the default language has changed. I would love to have it in both ways...

You are right. I had expected that this was already pulled. Don't know why such an important patch is ignored in an release...

After upgrade to current release i have the problem that image changes do not render new images.
Existing images are shown, but if, for example, i change the display size, the image does not show up in the resulting page anymore.

Use the "keep window open" option!?

Uh, i must be blind! Sorry andi, i really never seen this option... but you're right.

What? The insert media dialog already *is* an extra window!?

You got me wrong. What i meant was that it would be helpfull to have this OPTIONAL as an extra window or have it in an column next to the editor (not an extra tab). I'm looking for a way to add something like an imagebrowser like you know it from the simpleindex with namespaces and pages. An i would add a button "<" or ">" to switch this column on/off. Only in Editor-mode, of course.

I know that from a technical point of view it is regardless if i write links like this:
[[firstns:secondns:pagename]]
or this:
[[:firstns:secondns:pagename]]
(note the colon at the beginning)

When placing images in the editor, Dokuwiki always uses absolute links with colon first: {{:firtns:secondns:imagename.jpg|}}

Linking is the greatest strength of a Wiki, but unfortunately also the greatest weak spot...

No, i really mean the current shortcutkey plugin: https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:shortcutkey

As you can see in the source here: https://github.com/dryoo/dokuwiki-plugin-shortcutkey/blob/…
it uses this syntax to generate an URL to jump to:
var uurl=JSINFO['DOKU_URL'] + "?id=" +JSINFO['id'];
and this will result in an URL like "https://my.wiki.de/?id=nice:namespace:page" which will lead to the home instead of the desired page.

If one uses URL-Rewriting to eliminate the need of "doku.php" in the URL, the plugin works like expected.

No, you get me right! I also don't get that it would be part of. The question therefore was if it is usual to include it yourself?

And yes, i have encountered a problem in using the "shortcutkeys" plugin. The JS in the plugin builds an URL from concating DOKU_URL and "?id=....".

Subject: Place multiple images at once
I'm thinking about a way to make the mediamanager more usefull. Especially to place images out of it.
I have namespaces where many images resides (some about 100 and more) and it is no easy to find them ("scroll of death"). Even worse, if i need multiple images i had to go all the way again after placing one on the page. If i upload multiple images (which works so for) they are placed on top of the list, which is really usefull. But after placing the first of it, the list closes and i had to locate them in the whole bunch.

So firts of all i would suggest to change the way the media button works in the editor. My opinion is, that it would be better to have some sort of drag&drop from the imagelist. This could be added, so the basic functionality to click an image to place it, could remain.

Also there should be a way to select multiple images to be placed at once. Maybe a simple checkbox would do. This way, there could be a "check all" button on top, to place all images at once (very handy when making turorials). Or to use shift/alt key to select by clicking and drag&drop them all.

Maybe there should be an option to open an extra window for the media files or to have it like an strip at the left/right of the page.

What do you think? :-)

Subject: DOKU_URL is missing "doku.php"
After debugging the shortcutkey plugin i found that the environment variable "DOKU_URL" does not contain the index-page "doku.php".

Well, i could add it statically, but i don't think it is a good idea because there may be setups where this is hidden or something different. Or is it usual to concat ["DOKU_URL"] with "doku.php" ?

Subject: translation plugin: Use language namespace startpage for "home" symbol
If using the translation plugin and choosing another language than the default language, the "home" symbol always leads to the native language version of it.
How can i change this to always lead to the "root" of the namespace of the choosen language?
Or should i hack this in code?

But, there are some drawbacks though. I found out that using the 404redirect plugin in kombination with the translation plugin is a bit tricky. The translation-plugin redirects to an nonexisting page to offer the user to create a new translation by editing this page.
But here, the redirect catches the call :-/ Must play around with it.

Well, finally i found a solution myself :-)
The two plugins https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:redirect and https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:404manager are very promising. I've used the "redirect" with the "wildcard-patch" given on the plugin-page. It will redirect whole namespaces (with all subnamespaces) to a given page, or another namespace (if documentname is kept). Really nice and handy.
The other one, the 4040manager can also make suggestions for the user, to find the best match to his searched page-ID. Not always needed, but very good idea!

Oh thanks, but i'm already talking about the move plugin (called it pagemove plugin in my post, which was misleading, sorry!).

Have you ever used the drag&drop? It does not work for mediafiles if the target namespace do not contain at least one file.

But, what i'm missing is different. I don't want to fiddle out all the images used on a single page and move them by hand. So what i am looking for is to move the page, and all imagedata used on this page from the same namespace, to another namespace.

I'd like to use fields in my forms, where their content gets loaded from a database at runtime (or better call it "showtime" ;-)
The database is a simple MySQL-DB.

Subject: Redirect whole namespace
Hello,
i've reorganized my Wiki so some whole namespaces do not exist anymore. To keep users from frustation i'd like to redirect them to the new namespace. So what i need to do is to redirect every pagerequest to any page/subnamespace-page to the new one.

In know the redirect plugins for redirecting single pages, but not for whole namespaces. Only way i know is to use rewrite-plugin of apache (.htaccess) which is somewhat complicated.

Do you know any way to do it inside Dokuwiki itself?
