Are there perhaps two (forbidden) spaces  before your iindexmenu-call? Perhaps this indexmenu call is interpreted as being "code".

How is currently the menu in the sidebar done? Do you make use of a plugin for that?

- Disable "all" plugins.
- Delete all caches
- Test,whether indexmenu works.
- Report.

Is your wiki accessible by public? If yes, provide a link.

What I would do:
1) Switch over to dokuwiki-template, test, and switch back. Report here, if it has worked with dokuwiki-template. Else:
2) Note which plugins are enabled
3) Disable all plugins with at least exception of indexmenu
4) If it works now, enable step by step all the other and check in between whether indexmenu still works.

Report.

Perhaps it could help, if you applied an ACL ("read only by all, read/write by yourself) to that specific page.

The datadir ('pages') at ./data/pages is not found, isn't accessible or writable. You should check your config and permission settings. Or maybe you want to run the installer?

How to fix this error? OS:CentOS 7,Apache/2.4.6,PHP/5.4.16

What did you put in the configuration as "savedir"? According to mine there should be only ./data

Subject: Indexmenu; how to minimize traffic
We have a wiki with about 5000 pages in 1000 namespaces and make use of the plugin indexmenu for navigation purpose.

When I look at the page source of a wiki page, the complete index of the whole wiki is integrated into this html-page. Some questions:

1) Is this amount of data created by the webserver, I assume yes, or is it created by the browser somehow?
2) Does this amount of data need to transported for each new site I call in the wiki, or is it cached somehow in the browser?
3) Our namespace-structure is as follows:
/2151-2200/2151
/2151-2200/2151
/2151-2200/2152
..
/2151-2200/2200
/2201-2250/2201
/2201-2250/2202
/2201-2250/2203
..
/2201-2250/2250
...
...
/3001-3050/3001
...

My current indexmenu is "{{indexmenu>..:#1|js#thread navbar noscroll nocookie}}". Can I adjust it in a way that only the index of the current namespace is integrated into the html-source? F.e., only the information for top namespaces are presented and each click on a "namespace-page" will force a new request at the server for the index of that namespace?

4) The purpose of all the above is to reduce data traffic.

I would be pleased if someone understands what I am talking about :-)

Was soll denn "Very old school" sein.

- Automatisches Speichern alter Versionen
- Index-files (für das Suchen im wiki)
- Cache-Dateien

@Xeenych: I personally have no idea. We also make use of data-plugin, but currently I do not intend to switch over due to...
@molefunk: Don't you consider it to be problematic somehow, that struct-data is no longer visible via ascii-files but just disappears in an sql-database? Or am I completely ignorant concerning this matter?
