Subject: discussion with images
Hello,

How can I use dokuwiki as a classroom management system (e.g. edmodo.com) - where I have a dokuwiki page giving the homework details, then I was thinking of using the discussion part of the page, where students could 1) ask questions, 2) showcase and upload a .jpg image of their assignment.

thanks,

Jeff Jensen

Ok, I'm trying the following

How to disable open user registration
https://www.dokuwiki.org/faq:regdisable

from config manager, under Disable DokuWiki actions, check on Register

Then I think this will keep bot users from registering on my wiki. Please let me know if I'm wrong about this.

thanks,

Subject: keep bot users out
Hello,

I had the same problem, about 43,000 bot users and easily deleted them from the conf/users.auth.php file. My question is how do I keep this from happening again in the future?

Subject: syntax to link to main start dokuwiki page
Hello DokuWiki Users

What is the syntax to link to the main "start" dokuwiki page?

the following doesn't reference the main "start" page

 * [[start|Home Page]]

I checked the following docs, https://www.dokuwiki.org/link but couldn't find the answer. Currently, to get to the main "start" page I have to click on my icon picture in top left corner, http://www.jefferyjensen.com/dw/

thanks

Subject: links not updating
Hello,

When I copied my existing dokuwiki site to a new folder on the same server, all the links and login still points to the old location. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Everything I'm reading is dokuwiki backup is just copy paste, so I'm must be missing something easy.

I also posted at "moving copy of site to new folder" https://forum.dokuwiki.org/post/52838;nocount

thanks,

I'm trying to do something similar but the links don't get updated. Here is my procedure, please let me know what I'm doing wrong:

New: http://www.jefferyjensen.com/duggal/dw/start
Old: http://www.jefferyjensen.com/dw/start

1. using GoDaddy file manager, I copy my entire dokuwiki site to a new folder
 public_html/dw -> public_html/duggal/dw

2. change basedir or baseurl (I tried changing each one, didn't seem to do anything)
  public_html/duggal/dw/conf/local.php

3. deleted everything in cache folder
  public_html/duggal/dw/data/cache

virk - Yes, deleting the returns would work but then in my text editor I have to horizontally scroll as the line would be ~ 500 characters wide.

Mr. Turner - thanks for the tip on \\ and will give that a try.

Subject: line continuation character and word wrap in text file
Hello DokuWiki,

How do I wrap text in the dokuwiki page text file? Is there a line continuation character?

I have an unordered list with some bullet items holdings 3 or 4 sentences that I create with a text editor (UltraEdit). When I upload the text file, dokuwiki parses the returns as a new list item instead of continuing sentence. So I was thinking I need to use a line continuation character or something.

thanks,

Hello DokuWiki Users,

Can DokuWiki automatically generate a page of all the images/figures in the wiki? I would like to create an index or list of figures and their associated wiki page.

Subject: matching subdirectories in media and pages
Hello DokuWiki,

How do I organize my images and pages to use the same namespace/director names?

I have a generic namespace of programming and want to create pages under it with the name PHP and JavaScript in both the media and pages directories.

Namespace: dokuwiki/data/pages/programming
- PHP.txt
- JavaScript.txt

Namespace: dokuwiki/data/media/programming/php
- contains all the images used on the PHP.txt page

Namespace: dokuwiki/data/media/programming/javascript
- contains all the images used on the JavaScript.txt page

Is this the way DokuWiki organizes files automatically? If not, can it be made to behave this way?

thanks,

Jeff Jensen

I'm trying to do the similar thing as your #3 question, where I first upload my images into data/media folder, then edit the wiki page to insert images. Did you have success?

3. I have put some image files by FTP to data/media folder. Now I can use them, but in mediamanager all that files havn't "metadata" buttons. Is it possible anyhow "rescan" data/media folder so all that files appears in metadata index? Or I have to reupload all that files by mediamanager?
