It's probably a silly suggestion, but when the intelligent ones are all tried, what remains are the silly ones.

I would check to see if the filesystem where the pictures reside have any remarkable properties such as compression or encryption which then would occupy the CPU just to render the stored data into a usable format.

That takes a bit of an explanation. What, exactly, do you want to do with those Word documents in the wiki, and what do you mean by "managing" them in a Wiki environment?

I am a Wiki fan, even a Dokuwiki fan, but I don't think managing Word documents is one of the core strengths of this kind of product. If I'm mistaken, I'll gladly learn some new uses for the Dokuwiki.

I just tried to reconstruct the problem, but could not do so.

First, I create the entry form by typing "playground:entry" into the search field and opening the new page in DW.
Second, create the template by typing "playground:testtemplate" into the search field and opening the new page in DW.

Using the new entry form immediately works.

Of course, I can produce the error message "Could not read template "playground:testtemplate". Maybe it doesn't exist or you have no read permissions?" by changing the name of the file "testtemplate.txt" into "Testtemplate.txt" or "testtemplate" or something like that. I presume that you also could make the file unreadable by adding somes strange control characters, but I found no fast way to do that.

The attachment shows the listing of the directory holding both the entry form and the template as well as a page produced by the Bureaucracy plugin.

Hi Christoph

I have no ready-made solution for you. However, I think a close look at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/ might be worthwhile. You could indicate the road obstructions by showing them as POIs, I guess. However, the wiki even mentions a firefighter application.

I would advise against automatically removing the sites upon reaching their due dates. Construction work extending in duration past their planned end dates is not unheard of. Simply showing a list of all projects that are supposed to be complete seems much more reliable to me.

In my particular wiki, loading the pictures takes a long time, too, but only the first time a picture is shown at a particular size. Once that picture has been shown at that size, loading it again will be reasonably fast.

It appears that the rescaling of the pictures takes much time.

What's the content of the fields that are used in forming the name of the new page?

You can import CSV fles into struct tables, if that helps at all. You only have to be careful not to add any rows which already are in the table. The importer does not check for duplicates but cheerfully imports whatever is in the CSV file.

However, the import must be run manually by the admin of the wiki. I don't think that you can do a scheduled import or an import triggered by a user request.

If you don't want  one wiki page for each table row to be present, define your struct table as a "lookup".
