This is something I've been puzzling over for a long time. I've finally figured out the hard part (starting the numbers at an arbitrary point). But I want to get the numbers to be styled the way I want.
I make use of the wrap plugin. My dokuwiki code looks something list this:
<div zero>
# item
# item
# item
</div>

My css file looks like this:
div.dokuwiki div.wrap_zero ol {
counter-reset: section -1; /* set to one lower than intended value of first list item */
list-style-type: none;
}
div.dokuwiki div.wrap_zero ol div.li:before {
counter-increment: section;
content: counter(section) ". ";
}

I used
div.li:before[/m] not [m]li:before, because otherwise an unwanted new line is inserted.
What I want to do now is be able to apply text formatting (bold, italic, etc.) to the number prefixes. Does anyone know the appropriate css code?
(Wish-list level is being able to define arbitrary text strings as the prefixes, to create custom ordered list numberings such as ordinal numbers, but css doesn't support that.)
