I have no idea if a plugin exists that does this, but I figured I'd ask.
I would like to have wiki pages created on-the-fly based on external data. Is there any way to do this? Using an empty-page template would be an option, but the key is to create the pages with content that is effectively structured data, and would involved gathering information that is non-local (not in either the wiki itself nor a local DB or file system).
More concretely, an example:
I've a non-trivial number of records stored on boardgamegeek.com; they include board games I've owned, played, and rated; those that are in a wishlist, and such. There is an XML API to query the data from there.
What I would like to do is be able to write a page template and dynamically generate or update the page for a specific game if and when the page is accessed. (Even better would be the ability to propagate any changes back to the source, but that's a separate issue).
(Repeat with other data sources, like Amazon, Netflix, last.fm, etc.)
I could do this statically with periodic cron jobs and a bunch of perl/python/php/whatever scripts, but if I don't have to re-invent the wheel, even better.
