tbmark I am looking for a way to replace the standard smileys. We are using this for a small business. And the smileys are not right for what we need. But I would like to replace them with more useful images. I have started a collection of company specific ones that I have made. But if I replace them will it get overwritten during the next update? Thanks, Mark
ach See https://www.dokuwiki.org/smileys#customize_smileys You can simply override the default smileys by redefining them.
tbmark So removing them from the smileys.conf file, will remove them from the toolbar? Didn't know if that would break anything. I'm new to DW, we moved from Screwturn. Which I liked, but it was not my call to make the change. So far I like DW. Thanks!
ach tbMark wrote So removing them from the smileys.conf file, will remove them from the toolbar? That's not what I said, but yes, that would work. But you would lose that change after an upgrade. Now I'm confused. I thought you wanted to *replace* them?
tbmark Yes I want to replace them, sorry thinking out loud. Too much caffeine, too little sleep. I can backup the conf files and image folders so if I upgrade I can just overwrite them with my versions. Thanks so much!
ach tbMark wrote I can backup the conf files and image folders so if I upgrade I can just overwrite them with my versions. Did you read the link I posted? That explains how to change smileys in a way which wouldn't let you lose changes after an upgrade. You can replace them without backups and upgrade woes... Again, as described here: https://www.dokuwiki.org/smileys#customize_smileys
andi I think you two might have different definitions of "replace" ;-) tbMark wants to replace the smileys by removing all the existing definitions and replace them with completely new ones, ach talks about keeping the definitions but replacing the images.
ach andi wrote tbMark wants to replace the smileys by removing all the existing definitions and replace them with completely new ones, ach talks about keeping the definitions but replacing the images. That only makes sense if tbMark wants to get rid of some of the original smiley syntax. (Which is entirely possible and might be sensible as well.)
tbmark Yes that is what I am attempting to do. I have played around with removing the syntax from the smiley.conf file and moving the image file, but it still returns a place holder. I did several purges but still shows up. If they will eventually get removed then I can live with that for now.
tbmark Well it has been close to a month and it still shows the placeholders with the smiley tag of what I had removed from the conf fille. I removed 2 of the original smiley tags and the image files. Any ideas on how to remove the placeholders? Must be another conf files somewhere.
