Hello everyone!
My name is Julien Stébenne and I am 18 years old student in Multimedia Integration. I am really surprised that Dokuwiki is not only a wiki software, but also a community! I dont think Ive ever seen this anywhere else and that is really awesome!
The way I started to use Dokuwiki is a bit funny but now that I think of it, I would not change how things happened. I am the webmaster for a gaming unit called the Windbourne highlanders Aerospace Division for the game Star Citizen. Because I love working on stuff that is related to the web and the medias in general, I decided thhat I could make a place where al the information about the game can be available for the unit. So I first registered a server with 000webhost (don't go there, they suck) so we could have or little space on internet. I looked for many different wiki software but I couldnt use any of them because the PHP version running on the server wasnt the last one, and I found Dokuwiki and decided to give it a try, and it worked perfectly. I then worked with some people from my unit to put as many information as possible in the wiki. I then installed some plugins to make everything work fine so we can have all the tools we needed and I started working on a custom theme so everyone can see that it was made by the Windbourne Highlanders. Then, we got kicked out for no reason and we lost all our data, fortunatly I made a backup 6 days earlier, but a lot of work has been done since. So we had to get another how and we decided to get a paid host. Now, we have a proper server and even if I have the correct PHP version to run other wiki software, I dont know how we could have got the same result as the one we currently have.
Our wiki is still a private wiki and its content is only available for the members, but we will be opening for public soon, but you can still go take a look at the start page:
