eng1ne I've acquired a new-to-me PC and want to install DokuWiki; I already have an installation on a hosted server, that just sits there and does the job and has been there long enough for me to forget how I installed it. So: I've got as far as downloading the .zip, and have hit the phrase "Unpack the distribution tarball and upload/copy the files to your webspace". Unpacking a tarball holds no terrors for me, but I'm afraid I need a reminder on just what is meant by "webspace" :-} I'm running Ubuntu 13.10, if that helps. Thanks in advance!
lupo49 What do you mean? The DokuWiki files have to reside in a directory on your Webserver which is accessible through HTTP. https://www.dokuwiki.org/install
turnermm I think what this user wants is to load dokuwiki on to a local desktop machine rather than an external server. If so, on Ubuntu, the default "webspace" on your local machine is /var/www. Copy your dokuwiki distribution to that directory and unpack it there.
