Why does this not work? From what I see at semibite.de they use iframes to display the pdfs.
Please add [SOLVED] to the initial thread subject if you feel your question has been answered.

Hi Chi

Tobias Krähling who is the semibyte webmaster has writed a spécial plugin for that.

This plugin has been corrected (by Tobias on my request, thanks to him) to be compatible with the last version of doku.
I m in test on this plugin (work correctly on firefox but not in Explorer !).

When this plugin will operate  correctly Tobias will publish it on splitbrain.

(note : the plugin in don t use the iframe plugin but directly the iframe HTML command)

You'll just have to use the following code to display PDF-Files:

<html>
<object data="your-pdf-file-with-complete-path.pdf" type="application/pdf" width=800 height=500></object>
</html>

The complete path will look like "http://yourdomain.net/wiki/_media/...."

... and of course HTML must be enabled in your wiki.

See an example at my wiki - I will keep it there for a few days

Hi Wolfgang

"The complete path will look like "http://yourdomain.net/wiki/_media/....".

Thank so match for your simple reply.
This work perfectly with a path like the example (http://yourdomain.net/wiki/_media/...) for external URL.
But its impossible for me to run in local or in factory intranet (with localhost)
Do you know what is the exact path with local URL ?
I have tested with "http/localhost/dokuwiki/data/media/docpdf/essaipdf.pdf" without succes (and with similar other paths)

I have the same problem with "iframe" Html element

Thank for your help

Hi Wolfgang, CG
Should I mention that I have exactly the same need ? :)
A UNC  (\\ip_adress\share$\complete_path\file.pdf) doesn't work, either...

I don'n run my wiki as a local program, so I have to guess how it may work ...

Did you try
http://127.0.0.1/dokuwiki/data/media/docpdf/essaipdf.pdf
or
http://localhost/dokuwiki/data/media/docpdf/essaipdf.pdf

Probably the file can be opened with a link to your drive and directory.
For example:
<html>
<object data="c:\dokuwiki\data\media\docpdf\essaipdf.pdf" type="application/pdf" width=800 height=500></object>
</html>
if drive "C" is the one where DokuWiki is installed in "c:\dokuwiki" (that's the way you open any local file with a browser).

What about this versions:
/home/user/htdocs/dokuwiki/data/media/docpdf/essaipdf.pdf
or just
localhost/dokuwiki/data/media/docpdf/essaipdf.pdf

Good luck ;-)

What about
http://localhost/dokuwiki/_media/docpdf/essaipdf.pdf
(with htaccess-rewrite enabled) or
http://localhost/dokuwiki/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=docpdf:essaipdf.pdf
(without htaccess-rewrite)?

Hi all
It's OK for me using UNC (that's how I wanted to use Dokuwiki).
My browser was badly configured (Acrobat plug-in defective  :blush: )

This works :

<html>
<object data="\\ip_adress\share_name\path\to\file.pdf" type="application/pdf" width=1024 height=768></object>
</html>

Thanks for help and suggestions

Hi all

Laurent, is it possible to give me a concrete example to view pdf files on dokuwiki.

In my context only "data=http://localhost/dokuwiki/lib/exe/fetch.…?media=docpdf:e…" run on Ie and firefox (thanks ach).

This "data="\\ip_adress\share_name\path\to\file.pdf" dont run.

Note : Two object elements in the same dokuwiki page crash firefox (V2.0.0.6)

Question for ach : how to configure the htaccess-rewrite in dokuwiki ?

Thanks for help
