Subject: Timed Essay Plugin - willing to pay :)
Click on a link
shows a line (or up to a paragraph) of text and/or shows an image
starts timing
redirects to entry page
user enters text
when saved it records the total elapsed time in hh:mm
creates wikipage from entered text with elapsed time and username at top
the above page only viewable by the admin
upon review by admin, extracts Text and adds as an anonymous section in a new page. Other text entries are added to that page also.

Edited: Sorry, forgot to mention that I might be willing to pay for this. The 'might' depends entirely upon the total cost.  I can pay using Paypal and am willing to put some money up front to establish a good working relationship.

I guess it would be helpful to know about your budget. Are you offering a small bounty or are you looking to hire a developer. In the latter case check out http://www.wikimatrix.org/consultants/dokuwiki/programming/-

Thanks, Andi!

I don't know what either entails, but I assume that professional work deserves professional pay.

I have US$200 available to pay for the custom plugin noted above.

Is anyone willing to provide a complete plugin that can do what I ask?

Ah now that answers my question. That's about two hours from a professional. I'm not sure I 100% understood your requirements, but I guess it would take me more than 2 hours to implement it. Maybe you find someone on one of these freelancing sites... otherwise it's more of a bounty than paying for development.

Maybe you could describe what that plugin would be good for? Maybe others would have a use for it as well?

The plugin would be used at a writer's forum to provide writing challenges. The challenge provides a trigger phrase , image or word, and upon seeing the trigger, a timer starts. The writer then attempts to complete the challenge by writing an entire fictional story from scratch based upon the trigger, within the allotted time. The story is then saved, along with the title, writer's username, wordcount and elapsed time from start to submittal.

The plugin could be used for any type of timed writing exercise. It would help any writer by forcing them to bypass their internal editor and getting them into a stream of consciousness mode in their writing. This is turn enables them to write more directly, faster, with less angst and with more authenticity. We have used this technique at my writer's workshop since 2005 and it works very well.

A current php-based plugin is in place at the writer's workshop (libertyhallwriters.org)  that uses the same technique. The plugin is intended for use in Wordpress and a wordpress-compatible forums plugin. The whole system is cumbersome and outdated and I wish to make it less so.

I imagine the current php plugin for wordpress could serve to provide a bit of a template for a php-based Dokuwiki plugin? Perhaps that would make this project more doable for US$200?

Probably I'm interested for looking into this.

For me the desired functionalities are not yet clear, but I'm interested to discuss that with you.
Can we have further contact via the email?
